What is the difference between a Baseball and a Softball glove?

Baseball and Softball gloves are fairly similar in appearance but there are some differences.

The pocket in a Softball glove is deaper to cater for the bigger ball diameter and the pocket opening is wider.

Both gloves pictured above are 12 Inch. The Softball glove shown on the left has a wider opening than the Baseball glove on the right.

Most Softball gloves have adjustable wrist straps and most baseball gloves do not have adjustable wrist straps.

The sizing is different. An adult baseball player will typically use a 11.25 inch to 11.75 inch glove to play shortstop or second base whereas a softball player would use a 12 inch glove for the same positions.

Younger players will use smaller gloves for these positions depending on their age.
